There are many things you need to take into account when planning your web site.

Please spend a few minutes thinking about some of the questions listed below. I will be able to get a much better picture in my mind of what you would like your business to look like.

Together we will gather the right amount of information and create the web site of your dreams.

Please go over the statements and questions below and try to answer them as best as you can. Do remember that anything you list below can be changed at any time along the way. This will be the starting point in our discussions.

Please print out this page and jot down your responses. We will be able to begin from this point:

Who is your audience?

What are you expecting to happen by having a web site?

Is your site for the general public? Other Professionals? Perhaps the elderly? Artists? Do want to sell merchandise online?

How many pages?

Even the smallest sites usually require a few pages such as: a Home page; About Me/Us page ; Contact page; Product page?

Do you have text written  which I can modify for your site? Or does it need to be written or rewritten?

Most web sites require at least some pictures. Do you have any you would prefer to use?

Is there a color scheme you would need to use, or a do you have a particular logo already in mind?

What kind of "feel" do you want for your site?

Are there other web sites that you like?

It's perfectly acceptable to use other web sites as inspiration for your own site. Keep a list of sites that you like and try to note what

it is it that you like about them.

  • Is it the color?
  • The way the information is organized?
  • The simplicity of the graphics?
  • The flashy, high-tech look?
  • Do you need photographs of your products or personnel or building?
  • Are these photos already created, or will you need them to be taken?
  • Do you need any pages which would collect information from your visitors and then automatically forward the information to you in email?
  • Would you need a "Shopping cart" to sell products online?
  • Or will a simple "fill in the blanks" form work just as well?
  • About how many individual products do you want to sell?
  • Take into account different styles, colors, sizes of a particular
  • item.

How to begin:

Register domain name. This should be done as early as possible in the designing process so less changes will need to be made. I can do this for you as part of your package. The cost of a domain name is $35 per year.

I would organize your site page by page with the information you will give to me and present it to you for approval and of course, any changes. From our discussions, I will design 2-3 site pages which we will go over and make any changes you desire before we arrive at our final design.

Communication is most important at this stage of the design to be in agreement before you are published. We can either speak on the telephone, or communicate through emails until we are both satisfied with the results.

The next step is to arrange for a site to host your pages. I have used a particular site for over the last 7 years and have been pleased with their service. I would make the necessary arrangements for you.

After those arrangements have been made, your new website will be "live" and available for all to see.

Ok, we have brought the horse to the water, but we can't make him take a drink of water. Yes, we still need to register your site with the search engines. Here is where it takes some time for you to be found and seen by potential customers when they are using normal search engine tools.
